Infrared Device/IrDA driver

This driver is for the Infrared Device/IrDA integrated in the VT8231 South Bridge and VT1211 chip. The VT8231 and the VT1211 support a feature that can use infrared transfers between two fast infrared enabled devices.

Further information can be found in the readme included in the zip folder.

Please note that a driver for this component is incorporated into WinXP.

Many VIA chipsets have the VT1211 chip integrated into the South Bridge. Please check your motherboard manual if you are not sure if your motherboard has this feature.

VT1211 Fast Infrared Controller Driver Component
The package below is adapted from logo'ed FIR driver package VIAFR12A.exe for Low-Pin-Count Super I/O chip VT1211. We have renamed the.INF and the.SYS files and removed the support of the VT8231 South Bridge from the.INF file, to resolve a file name alias problem that causes the Target Designer to load existing driver files, instead of the new and updated ones. A side effect of modifying the.INF file is that the CAT file no longer works.
